Program schedule 1st day
When we arrive in Luxor, the first thing we do is visit the Karnak Temple complex.
Karnak Temple Complex The remains of the temple that are still visible today date from the 12th Dynasty under Sesostris. The purpose of the temple complex was for the priesthood to hold daily temple services there. Temples were also built for the wife of Amun, the goddess Mut and their son Khonsu. Together they form the Triad of Thebes. Sacred cultural ceremonies, prayers, sacrifices and songs were carried out in the temple.
After visiting the Karnak Temple complex, we will go to a restaurant for lunch. After our lunch break, we will drive you to your hotel where you can relax. In the afternoon, we will continue our tour and drive to the Luxor Temple.
Luxor Temple was built during the New Kingdom under Amenophis III. The Luxor Temple essentially served two functions. Once a year on the Egyptian New Year, the Opet Festival was celebrated. The statues of the gods Amun, Mut and Khonsu were brought to the Karnak Temple in portable barges. The second function was the negation of the king with his goddess Ka. Before we take you back to your hotel, you have the opportunity to watch the sound and light show in the Karnak Temple in the early evening. You will enjoy your dinner in a relaxing atmosphere in your hotel and let the day come to an end.
Program schedule for day 2. After breakfast, your tour guide will pick you up again and take you to the famous Colossi of Memnon. The Colossi of Memnon are two ancient Egyptian colossal statues standing next to each other from the 14th century BC. The quartzite statues represent King Amenophis III. They were built in 1379 BC. Our journey then continues and we drive to the Valley of the Kings. The Valley of the Kings is one of the main attractions for tourists in Egypt. Here you will have the opportunity to visit three tombs. Our next item on the program will be a visit to the terrace temple complex of Hatshepsut. Terrace Temple of Hatshepsut. The mortuary temple of Hatshepsut dates from the 18th dynasty and is the best preserved temple on the west bank of the Nile in Thebes. The entire temple was built from limestone. After we have visited the temple, we will board a boat and cross the Nile to return to East Luxor where we will enjoy our lunch. After lunch we will drive back to ELQUSEIR where your tour guide will see you off at your hotel. We, the Berlin Travel Team, have many years of experience with trips to the historical sights in Egypt, which is why we reserve the right to change the order of the visits in order to be able to show you all the buildings without stress and mass tourism.
