Itinerary of the Luxor excursion from El Quseir

We will pick you up from your hotel or accommodation. Then we will drive to Luxor. All of our staff for the Luxor excursion are Egyptologists and very experienced in the ancient history of Egypt. In addition, the vehicles are comfortable, with enough legroom and the drivers know their way around Egypt and are trained, safe drivers. We will drive through the eastern desert from El Quseir to Luxor in the early morning hours. We will take a short break on the way. Once we arrive in Luxor, our day trip to Luxor looks like this:

Your English-speaking guide will be at your side for the entire trip from El Quseir to Luxor and will share all of his knowledge with you. In other words, since this trip is private, you have the opportunity to enjoy the sightseeing in peace and quiet, away from mass tourism.

The largest temple complex in Egypt is located in Karnak, a village about 2.5 km north of Luxor and directly on the eastern bank of the Nile. The oldest remains of the temple still visible today date from the 12th Dynasty under the Pharaoh Sesostris. The most notable among the ruins are the Temple of Amun-Re with its ten pylons. The total area of the temple is about 30 hectares. The largest area of the temple complex is the Amun district. Here you can see the sacred lake, the red chapel, the white chapel, the alabaster chapel and the Temple of Opet. Of course, there is much more to explore in the Karnak Temple.

A 45-minute Nile cruise on a motorboat felucca cannot offer anything better for your soul and mind. After the included exclusive Nile cruise, you will arrive at a cozy and beautiful restaurant with a view of the Nile, where you can relax and enjoy your Egyptian-Oriental lunch.

Excursion from El Quseir to Luxor to the Valley of the Kings

The Valley of the Kings in Luxor West (Thebes) was a necropolis in ancient Egypt. In ancient Egyptian, the Valley of the Kings was known as Sechet-aat (the great field). It is the largest burial site of the Egyptian pharaohs. The Valley of the Kings is home to the tombs of the rulers of the New Kingdom. The valley is located in West Thebes, opposite Karnak on the edge of the desert and is surrounded by high mountains. Despite thousands of years of excavations and looting, the Valley of the Kings still provides Egyptologists with numerous highly valuable grave finds. In 1922, the tomb of Tutankhamun was discovered largely intact by Howard Carter. The first clearly identified tomb in the Valley of the Kings was that of Pharaoh Thutmosis I. The systematic search for and opening of tombs began with Napoleon's expedition to Egypt. You will visit three tombs in the Valley of the Kings.

The Colossi of Memnon are two ancient Egyptian colossal statues standing next to each other from the 14th century BC. They are located in the Nile Valley not far from the Valley of the Kings in West Thebes. The quartzite statues depict King Amenhotep III sitting on a throne. The statues are still about 18 meters high including the base.

The Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut dates from the 18th Dynasty and is the best preserved temple in Thebes on the west bank of the Nile. The entire temple complex was built from limestone. This temple was built over a period of around 15 years, from the 7th to the 22nd year of Queen Hatshepsut's reign. The temple has its own very unique architecture.
